POPTIUS is a pop culture and lifestyle website with feature articles written solely by Ignatius Lee. The site is named after his online moniker, which is really a play on his name, controversial biblical figure Pontius, and the word “pop.”

The site is most often a column, frequently publishing critical analyses of pop cultural failures (otherwise known as as the dreaded ‘flop’), a pessimistic yet fascinating subject.

The writer

Ignatius Lee is a Singaporean college student. In 2015, he graduated from Singapore Polytechnic’s School of Communication, Arts and Social Sciences with a diploma with merit in media and communication.

He interned at five-time Singapore Media Awards Agency of the Year winner OMD Singapore (his greatest service was throwing a superhero-themed Christmas party) and served a two-year conscription with the Singapore Armed Forces and Republic of Singapore Air Force (his greatest service was making it out alive.)

Ignatius matriculated in Nanyang Technological University in 2017 and is currently majoring in communication studies at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information. He aims to specialize in advertising after he found himself below the median in media research class.

Albeit the good grades in mandatory writing classes, Ignatius is actively avoiding journalism courses as he fears an absurdly impoverished future and prefers writing gratuitous articles online anyway. After all, that was what birthed this site during his 2018 summer break, apart from the fact that GoDaddy auto-renewed his domain purchase at $60.

Ignatius appreciates mindless upbeat pop, drinks Coca-Cola religiously, believes comedians are underrated heroes, and finds it difficult to withhold his disdain for anything that smells bad.
